This NTN UCFC series light-duty piloted flange ball bearing unit with four bolt holes, contact and flinger seals, a setscrew lock, and an end cover is designed for mounting onto bearing surfaces perpendicular to the shaft axis. This ready-to-mount flange unit has a one-piece housing made of gray cast iron for rigidity and vibration damping. Its solid base provides stability to the unit when mounted. The double-sealed, deep-groove radial ball bearing insert in the housing is made of through-hardened chromium steel and is rated “light duty” for applications with moderate radial loads and light thrust or combination loads. It has a wide, extended inner ring on both sides for increased shaft support and reduced inner-ring tilt for smooth operation. This self-aligning bearing has a convex sphered outer surface that compensates for misalignments. Steel-reinforced molded rubber lip seals on both sides of the bearing retain lubricant applied at manufacture and help keep out contaminants. For added protection, flingers on the inner ring deflect contaminants away from the seals. The bearing locks onto the shaft with two setscrews spaced 120 degrees apart for a three-point contact hold. This lock type minimizes ring distortion and vibration and is suitable for low to moderate speed applications where the shaft rotates in a single or reversing direction. This bearing unit has a brass grease fitting on the housing outer surface for reapplying lubricant, and comes with a closed-end pressed steel dust cover with a greased double rubber seal. The cover protects the bearing and shaft end in applications with high dust levels or splashes of liquid, such as conveyors or steel mills.
